Transfer Deadline Day

With the window slamming shut on Monday night, there could be a lot of last minute business being done by a host of clubs on the day. This blog will analyse which high profile players could be the subject of a late transfer bid. As the window comes to a close there are usually some deals which completely catch people off guard. This deadline day has the potential to be another blockbuster and I am sure just like Jim White a lot of football fans will be intrigued to see what is in store. Here are some of the stars that clubs could try and lure away:

Name: Edison Cavani

Age: 27

Club: Paris Saint Germain

Interested Clubs: Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid

Possible Fee: £40m-£50m

Cavani hasn’t really hit it off in Paris, after being the main man whilst being at Napoli; he has now had to contend with being second fiddle to Ibrahimovic. On his day Cavani can cause defenders nightmares and with PSG having Financial Fair Play issues they may have to cash in on the Uruguayan.

Name: Radamel Falcao

Age: 28

Club: AS Monaco

Interested Clubs: Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid

Possible Fee: £50m or a lucrative loan deal

Falcao suffered a horrible injury which ruled him out of the World Cup, we all know that form is temporary and class is permanent. One thing is for sure Falcao has bags of class, since his return from injury many clubs have been rumoured with his signature. When on song Falcao is one of the world’s best.

Name:  Arturo Vidal

Age: 27

Club: Juventus

Interested Clubs: Real Madrid and Manchester United

Possible fee: £35m-£50m

Vidal has been the subject of strong interest all summer especially from Manchester United, his box to box presence is something that United crave. Juventus have been stern and said that they do not want to sell. This potential deal could go right to the wire.

Name: Daley Blind

Age: 24

Club: Ajax

Interested Club: Manchester United

Possible Fee: £15m+

Blind had a great World Cup with Holland and his ability to play a variety of different positions is something that Manchester United lack. Van Gaal knows better than anyone the quality that Blind possesses and this deal should be finalised on Monday.

Name: Ron Vlaar

Age: 29

Club: Aston Villa

Interested Clubs: Southampton and Manchester United

Possible Fee: £10m-£15m

I personally feel Vlaar is under rated and whilst being at Villa his defending has significantly improved. Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has publically stated his interest in Vlaar, Lambert will be hopeful that his team can fend off any interest for his star defender.

Name: Sami Khedira

Age: 27

Club: Real Madrid

Interested Clubs: Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United

Possible Fee: £20m+

Khedira is another player who has come back from a difficult injury; he played a key role in Germany’s World Cup triumph and would improve most teams. It looked all but certain at one stage that Khedira would follow former team mate Angel Di Maria out of Real Madrid. But with Xabi Alonso now a Bayern Munich player, Khedira now has the opportunity to re-establish himself in the Madrid midfield. However with his contract running down Madrid may be tempted if they get a lucrative offer.

Name: Petr Cech

petr cech

Age: 32

Club: Chelsea

Interested Clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool

Possible Fee:  £15m-£20m

With Courtois now seemingly Mourinho’s number 1, Cech now has a predicament on his hands does he stay and try and battle for the No 1 Jersey or does he decide to move on. Cech is at an age where he needs to be playing regularly and if available a host of top clubs would relish the chance to snap him up.

Name: Dani Alves

dani alves

Age: 31

Club: Barcelona

Interested Clubs: PSG, Monaco and Inter Milan

Possible Fee: £10m+

Could the writing be on the wall for Alves, with Barcelona signing fellow countryman Douglas Pereira, Alves may see this as the chance to move on. PSG have been quite heavily linked with the Brazilian and I am sure they could offer a very hefty package to tempt Alves to make the switch.

Name: Isco

Age: 22

Club: Real Madrid

Interested Clubs: Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal

Possible Fee: £20m+

Isco is a great talent and would thrive on playing regular football, but realistically with the attacking options that Real Madrid have, Isco may struggle to nail down a starting berth. Could be interesting to see whether any bids go in for Isco in the coming days and whether Madrid are tempted to cash in.

Name: Marco Reus

Age: 25

Club: Borussia Dortmund

Interested Clubs: Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid

Possible Fee: £25m+

Reus was cruelly struck down with injury just with the World Cup on the horizon.  Now recovered and the star man of Dortmund, there has been various different reports that Reus has a minimum fee release clause in his contract. Klopp and Dortmund may have to act if Reus decides not to renew his contract.

Name: Danny Welbeck

Age: 23

Club: Manchester United

Interested Clubs: Tottenham, Hull and Sunderland

Possible Fee: Season Long Loan or £10m+

Welbeck has found himself on the fringes at Manchester United and in order to improve his goal scoring ability he may have to move on. No one can question his work rate or desire but for many critics Welbeck needs to work on his end product.

Name: Lukas Podolski

Age: 29

Club: Arsenal

Interested Clubs: Galatasary and Juventus

Possible Fee: Season Long Loan or £10m

Podolski has failed to become a regular fixture in Arsenal’s starting eleven. With Wenger bolstering his forward options further with Alexis Sanchez, Podolski may look to move on.

Name: Matija Nastasic

Age: 21

Club: Manchester City

Interested Clubs: Juventus, Roma and Napoli

Possible Fee: £10m

After a bright start to his City career, injuries and inconsistency have thwarted Nastasic’s development at City. After the emergence of Demichelis and the big money signing of Mangala, Nastasic sees himself well out of favour. Nastasic may have to move on in order to get himself back on track.

Name: William Carvalho

william carvalho

Age: 22

Club: Sporting Lisbon

Interested Clubs: Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal

Possible Fee: £20m+

Carvalho is a player that has attracted a lot of interest since he burst onto the scene. With the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal lacking a midfielder enforcer, Carvalho is a man who already fits the bill at such a young age. Could there potentially be some developments with Carvalho in the coming days?

Name: Andros Townsend

Age: 23

Club: Tottenham Hotspur

Interested Clubs: Southampton and QPR

Possible Fee: £15m+

Pochettino has made it clear that he doesn’t want to sell Townsend. But as we all know every player has their price, Townsend would probably be playing week in week out if he went to Southampton. It’s up to Koeman and the Saints to tempt Daniel Levy to cash in.

Name: Ezequiel Lavezzi

Age: 29

Club: PSG

Interested Clubs: Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus

Possible Fee: £20m

Lavezzi since moving from Napoli has struggled to nail down a starting role. With so much competition at PSG, he has struggled to come to terms with life in Paris. On his day Lavezzi can torment any defence and if he decides to leave many teams will be chasing his signature.

Name: Bernard

Age: 21

Club: Shakthar Donetsk

Interested Clubs: Arsenal, Napoli and Fiorentina

Possible Fee: £15m

Bernard has made it clear that he is not entirely happy with life in Ukraine, with all the political rumblings going on in Ukraine, Bernard wants to start the next chapter of his career. He is young and a raw talent and with the right mentor he can fulfil his great potential.

Name: Julian Draxler

Age: 20

Club: Schalke

Interested Clubs: Arsenal and Bayern Munich

Possible Fee: £25m

Another young German who has incredible talent, Arsenal have been strongly linked with Draxler in the past and Bayern are reportedly monitoring the young star. It’s only a matter of time before Draxler moves on and Schalke will look to cash in.

Name: Aymeric Laporte

Age: 20

Club: Athletic Bilbao

Interested Clubs: Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United

Possible Fee: £25m-£30m

Laporte is one of the most sought after centre backs in World Football; many top clubs will be tracking his development. Bilbao will be hopeful that they can fend off the interest of the big teams, however if someone meets Laporte release clause Bilbao will have no say in the matter.

Name: Jackson Martinez

jackson martinez

Age: 27

Club: FC Porto

Interested Clubs: Arsenal, AC Milan and Roma

Possible Fee: £10m-£20m

Martinez has been one of the most consistent strikers in European Football over the years. After a decent World Cup he many now feel that it is time to move to a more illustrious European league. With his track record many teams will be interested.

Name: Wesley Sneijder

Age: 30

Club: Galatasary

Interested Clubs: Manchester United, Inter Milan and Zenit St Petersburg

Possible Fee: £10m-£15m

Sneijder had a good World Cup with Holland; he could be tempted to move from Galatasary. In his prime Sneijder would have improved every team in Europe, could someone be willing to take a punt on him.

Name: Jordan Rhodes

Age: 24

Club: Blackburn Rovers

Interested Clubs: Sunderland, Hull City and Newcastle United

Possible Fee: £15m-£20m

Rhodes is a proven goal scorer but the money that has been floated about to capture his signature seems a bit far-fetched.  Blackburn clearly will not be held to ransom over Rhodes, if teams like Hull want Rhodes then they may have to significantly pay over the odds.

Name: Lars Bender

lars bender

Age: 25

Club: Bayer Leverkusen

Interested Clubs: Arsenal and Manchester United

Possible Fee: £20m

Lars Bender is another top class German central midfielder, at just 25 years of age many believe that Bender could be a good signing for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United. His ability to break up and read play is second to none. Could he be the subject of bids before the deadline shuts?

Name: Xherdan Shaqiri

Age: 22

Club: Bayern Munich

Clubs Interested: Arsenal, Juventus and Spartak Moscow

Possible Fee: £20m

After a Hat-Trick in the World Cup, Shaqiri will be a wanted man if Guardiola is willing to negotiate. With Robben and Ribery ahead of him in the pecking order, it all depends whether Shaqiri is willing to wait for his chance or look elsewhere.

Name: Jordy Clasie

Age: 23

Club: Feyenoord

Clubs Interested:  Southampton, Manchester United and Porto

Possible Fee: £10m-£15m

With Feyenoord failing to make it to the Champions League Group Stages the likes of Clasie may feel the time is right to move on. Feyenoord will do all they can to keep their star but with the likes of Southampton and Koeman lurking Clasie could be tempted.

Name: Yevhen Konoplyanka

Age: 24

Club: Dnipro

Clubs Interested: Roma, West Ham and Tottenham

Possible Fee: £12m-£18m

Konoplyanka is one of the most gifted wingers in Europe and if he does decide to embark on a new challenge then there will be a host of clubs put on alert. With Dnipro failing to get past this season’s Champions League qualifying stage, Konoplyanka could be tempted if the right offer came along.

Name: Javier Hernandez

Age: 26

Club: Manchester United

Clubs Interested: Juventus, Valencia and Real Madrid

Possible Fee: £5m-£10m

In his first year at United, Hernandez was a regular starter and scorer. But since then he has had less game time and as a result his confidence seems shot. Probability is that Hernandez is going to be on the move before the window shuts. If Hernandez gets himself at a club that provides opportunities and regular first team time then I have no doubt he will be back scoring goals.

Name: Lucas Silva

lucas silva

Age: 21

Club: Cruzeiro

Clubs Interested: Manchester United, Inter Milan and Athletico Madrid

Possible Fee: £8m-£15m

Lucas Silva is currently being monitored by a host of top European clubs. After starring for Brazil in the Toulon tournament, could he be ready to take the step into European Football. A young holding midfielder who seems destined for big things.

Name: Kevin Strootman

Age: 24

Club: Roma

Club Interested: Manchester United

Possible Fee: £25m+

With Strootman still on the mend from a length spell on the sidelines, will Van Gaal look to reunite with his fellow Dutchman? It could be a risk but there is no doubting that when fit, Strootman is a very accomplished midfielder. This deal could be more likely in January but you never know.
